From the 3rd to the 8th of July, 11 girls from West Cork Volleyball Club travelled to Espinho, Portugal, to compete in the AMB World Youth Cup 2026.
For every one of our players, this was their very first international volleyball tournament. It was an unforgettable experience, giving them the opportunity to challenge themselves against teams from different countries, develop their volleyball skills, make new friends, and grow even closer as a team. We couldn’t be prouder of how they represented our club, their families, and West Cork throughout the week.
This trip would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community.
A heartfelt thank you to the volunteer mums who travelled with us. They gave up their own time to support the girls, helping everything run smoothly from beginning to end. Their care, organisation, and encouragement made a huge difference, and we are incredibly grateful.
We would also like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising efforts. Thank you to the Dunmanway community for supporting our quiz night, organised by one of our club mums, and to the Skibbereen community for your generosity during our flag day. A special thank you also goes to the parents who volunteered their time to stand collecting donations.
Finally, thank you to everyone who donated through our GoFundMe page. Every contribution helped make this trip possible and eased the financial pressure on families, allowing the girls to enjoy every moment of this amazing opportunity.
On behalf of West Cork Volleyball Club, thank you to everyone who believed in these young athletes and helped make this dream a reality. The memories they made, the friendships they built, and the experience they gained will stay with them for years to come. We are already looking forward to the next adventure!
